[Let such a man fight against them with all his might: if he once gives way, he will be vanquished; but if he strives against his sufferings, he will conquer. As it is, however, what most men do is to drag down upon their own heads a falling ruin which they ought to try to support. Na transcendentální estetice je také patrno, jak Kant slučuje a zauzluje problémy, které je třeba analyzovat. Prostor a čas jsou sloučeny, zatímco je třeba traktovat je odděleně aspoň jako dva póly (filosoficky, ne přírodovědecky vzato!). Prostor třeba traktovat nikoli prostě jako formu smyslovosti a priori a v tom sloučit prostor vněmový, subjektivně-prožívaný i geometricky idealizovaný a fyzikálně aplikovaný.
Prostor jako soubor relací nepřestává být objektivní ani v subjektivitě (struktura relací nezávislá na termínech, jichž se relace týkají, může tedy být uskutečněna v nejrůznějších modelech).
Subjektivnost prostoru není tedy dobrým prostředkem k účelu sledovanému Kantem. Cesta k němu vede spíše ukázáním, že prostor sám není jsoucno dané jednou provždy, nýbrž bohatá struktura, která v každém svém paragrafu má historii, že tedy není ,dán', nýbrž postupně, a to neukončitelnou prací, odhalován.
