Ladislav Hejdánek (2007)

Starší názvy pro přírodní vědy (tj. vědy o „přírodě“) jsou ještě dozníváním principiálního rozlišování mezi vědami popisnými a pokusnými (experimentálními). Toto rozlišování bylo založeno vlastně na předsudku, jehož původ musíme hledat ve starém Řecku. Vyostřeně to formuloval až Aristotelés, když rozlišil dvojí druh (filosofických) „věd“ (disciplín). „Čisté“ (tj. pravé) vědění podle Aristotela spočívá na pouhém zírání, nahlížení, nazírání, při kterém člověk poznávající nesmím nic dělat, tj. nesmí se zaměřovat na žádný k určitému cíli zaměřený výkon, na žádnou aktivitu ze své strany. My ovšem už dávno víme, že nic takového není možné, že každé poznávání je naší aktivitou, že samo pozorování vyžaduje od nás velké soustředění a velkou aktivitu.
