Je tedy třeba mít na zřeteli:
1. „fenomenalita“ která je přisuzována objektivnímu poznání, neznamená nemožnost aplikovat naše kategorie na realitu, nýbrž nemožnost zachytit jejich pomocí celek. Transcendentální estetika netvoří rozhodně onu kvalitativní bariéru, za kterou nesahá platnost našich kategirí. Tato platnost je omezena jiným způsobem, totiž schematičností všech pojmů a konstrukcí z nich, totiž výpovědí a jejich rozborů, teorií.
2. Věda je sice od počátku ateistická, nezná nic než střízlivou objektivitu a nikdy z ní nevede jinam, ale negativně, tj. a) svou vlastní neuceleností a b) svým ustavičným pokračováním ve snaze o celek, poukazuje mimo sebe. Snaha vědy je vše zobjektivizovat; neukončenost a neukončitelnost této snahy, ba její vnitřní rozpor – sama není totiž možná bez non-objektivity – ukazuje cestu z objektu ven.
3. Materialismus a idealismus jsou hypostaze oněch metafyzických motivů, které jsou ve vědě obsaženy a kterých věda instrumentálně používá. Materialismus předpokládá, že ...
