[Let such a man fight against them with all his might: if he once gives way, he will be vanquished; but if he strives against his sufferings, he will conquer. As it is, however, what most men do is to drag down upon their own heads a falling ruin which they ought to try to support. Některé partie méontologické problematiky mají vysloveně triviální povahu, ovšem v obecném povědomí se vůbec jako triviální nejeví, protože běžně si jich nejsme vůbec nebo aspoň náležitě vědomi; jiné naproti tomu zasahují do oblastí, každodennímu životu dnes většinou velice vzdálených, které ovšem kdysi před staletími tak vzdálené nebyly, avšak byly chápány v naprosto odlišných kontextech (třeba mytických nebo náboženských, ale i „zpředmětněně“ atd.). A posléze některými partiemi sahá méontologická problematika do míst, kam leda jen trochu nahlédli – a ještě spíš výjimečně – pouze někteří ze starších myslitelů, ale obvykle aniž by našli nějaký vhodný způsob, jak se vůči nim a v nich myslivě (myslitelsky) „chovat“, jakými cestičkami se tam ubírat anebo jaké nové stezky je třeba prošlapávat.
