… To je z tohoto hlediska osvobození, které nelze dost vysoko ocenit a které mu jde vstříc.
Jde mu vstříc (2) jako jeho záchrana z oceánu možností, které se mu zdánlivě v neomezeném počtu nabízejí, tím že je postaven na půdu skutečnosti toho jednoho potřebného, a ta je také jeho jedinou možností. Jde skutečně o záchranu, neboť onen oceán by pro člověka byl jistým zahynutím. Křesťan je jako takový před touto záhubou zachráněn.
Pro křesťana už skončila ztráta obzorů, obrysů a tvarů, v jejíž otevřenosti na všechny strany je člověk vydán všanc všem větrům, takže podléhá zkáze a rozkladu, už skončila pýcha i ubohost bezbřehého mínění, myšlení a usilování.

… Das ist unter diesem Aspekt die nicht hoch genug zu schätzende Befreiung, die ihm widerfährt.
Sie widerfährt ihm (2) als seine Rettung aus dem Ozean der sich ihm scheinbar in unbegrenzter Zahl anbietenden Möglichkeiten durch seine Versetzung auf den Boden der Wirklichkeit des Einen Notwendigen, die als solche auch seine einzige Möglichkeit ist. Es handelt sich tatsächlich um eine Errettung. Denn jener Ozean wäre des Menschen sicherer Untergang. Der Christ als solcher wird aus diesem Untergang errettet. Mit der Horizontlosigkeit, Kontur- und Gestaltlosigkeit eines nach allen Seiten geöffneten, allen Winden preisgegebenen und so der Auflösung und Zerstreuung verfallenen Daseins, mit dem Stolz und mit der Kläglichkeit eines uferlosen Meinens, Denkens und Strebens ist es für den Christen vorbei.
