This text explores the intrinsic relationship between science and hope, building on and critiquing Ernst Bloch's assertion that reason and hope are interdependent. While Karl Marx, influenced by positivist notions of objectivity, suggested that entering science requires abandoning all hope, this essay argues that such a view neglects the essential role of the scientific subject. Without hope, the scientist lacks the necessary drive, precision, and persistence required for meaningful research. The author contends that science must be redefined to acknowledge the scientist's subjective involvement rather than attempting to isolate a purely objective truth. By confronting Bloch's concept of hope as an "affect of expectation" and Marx's dismissal of it, the text calls for a new understanding of scientific practice that integrates the human element. Ultimately, it suggests that the future of science depends on this internal realization by researchers themselves, moving beyond traditional positivist frameworks.

Věda a naděje
Ernst Bloch kdysi napsal: „Die Vernunft kann nicht blühen ohne Hoffnung, die Hoffnung nicht sprechen ohne Vernunft, beides in marxistischer Einheit – andere Wissenschaft hat keine Zukunft, andere Zukunft keine Wissenschaft.“ (Cituji z Habermase, měl bych to najít přímo u Blocha.) A právě tento „vědecký subjekt“ bez jakési „naděje“ není (a nebude) schopen vědecky pracovat (resp. nebude dost přesný, usilovný a stále dál v bádání postupující). Prostě a dobře, sama věda bude must být nově chápána, a to nejen „zvenčí“, ale právě vědci samými!
