The text explores the concept of life understood as "aliveness" or vitality, critically examining the traditional metaphor of life as a "gift." The author highlights a logical contradiction: the notion of a gift necessitates both a giver and a recipient, yet in the case of the origin of life or existence itself, there is no pre-existing subject to receive such a gift. The reflection further challenges the rigid boundary between the "living" and the "non-living," arguing that aliveness is not an independent reality with a separate source from the rest of existence. Instead of a passively received gift, life is conceptualized as an active performance—the carrying out of a task or mission. While a living being may receive various gifts, these are accepted by the being itself, not by its abstract quality of aliveness. This philosophical inquiry calls for a reassessment of the ontological status of life, moving away from its isolation as a distinct, "gifted" entity.

„neživým“ a tzv.
