This text critically examines Aristotle's assertion that units and points are distinct because points possess position while units do not. The author challenges this distinction, arguing that no point has an inherent location in itself; position only arises in relation to other points or through the human act of placement. By referencing Leibniz's concept of monads, the author illustrates the difficulty of assigning spatial coordinates to fundamental entities. The central argument posits that position is not an intrinsic property of the point or the unit itself, but rather an assignment made by a conscious subject who organizes them into a sequence or spatial layout. Just as numbers are ordered by human choice, points are placed within a conceptual framework by us. This perspective is supported by the practical example of children grouping marbles, where the definition of a set is determined by the observer's intent. Ultimately, the text suggests that neither points nor units possess intrinsic positions, thus undermining Aristotle’s ontological separation between the two categories.

Jednotky a body podle Aristotela
Aristotelés říká (Anal. Post. (A to má další svízel, neboť takto „totožné“místo mají i všechny ostatní monády, spící i bdělé.)
