K večeru zavolal sem do Písku Jakub Patočka, a chtěl, abych napsal něco do Literárních novin k Vaculíkovým 75tinám (ovšem do necelého týdne, a omlouval se). To jsem mu nemohl slíbit, jednak proto, že mi už delší dobu není nejlépe, jednak proto, že by to muselo mít švih, což já moc neumím (a zejména ne rychle). Ale vyslovil jsem potěšení, že zavolal, a pochválil jsem mu Literární noviny (jako jednu z mála tiskovin, které se dají číst). Patočka poděkoval, měl pochopení pro mé odmítnutí a navrhl, abych příležitostně něco jiného napsal; připomněl zajímavou diskusi, kterou jsem odstartoval v KR. řekl jsem, že rád a že se ohlásím.
