This document explores the fundamental difficulties associated with defining and grasping the concept of "truth." The author argues that various distinct realities can be understood under this term, making it challenging to find a stable point of reference for philosophical discourse. A central element of European thought is the long-standing coexistence of two traditions—the Greek and the Jewish—whose interplay and mutual integration have shaped Western intellectual history for over two and a half millennia. Christian thinkers have historically sought a synthesis or syncretism of these divergent roots, creating a complex conceptual legacy. The author emphasizes that a purely descriptive approach is insufficient for understanding truth; one must penetrate the core of the issue through deep personal engagement. True comprehension requires the researcher to take a clear stance, decide on a specific interpretation, and view truth as a dynamic process necessitating active participation and choice. Ultimately, the text presents truth not as a passive object of description, but as a field requiring profound personal commitment and ethical responsibility within the broader historical and philosophical context.

Pouhý popis tu nemůže stačit; je třeba do hloubky pochopit, oč tu šlo a dosud jde, a to není možné bez osobní angažovanosti.
