This text analyzes Sophocles' reflection on the relationship between the non-manifest and the manifest within the context of time. The author examines the process by which the non-manifest becomes manifest through birth, only to later lapse back into non-manifestness. A central thesis is the distinction between the original non-manifestness, located in the future and moving toward realization, and the final non-manifestness, which belongs to the past. While the past recedes and cannot return on its own, it can only be revived through new events approaching from the future that connect with specific past elements. Furthermore, the text interprets Sophocles' use of "time" as metaphorical. The author suggests that time is not the actual "birthing mother" of events, but rather a metaphorical framework for their appearance and disappearance. Consequently, the true origin of things and the question of where they come from remain hidden. This reflection provides profound insight into the ontological understanding of time and being in classical thought.
