The text examines the ontological concept of "Dasein" and its diverse interpretations within German philosophical thought, focusing on the tension between its etymological roots and its technical application. The author argues that the term "Dasein" (literally "being there") inherently emphasizes spatial and temporal specificity, representing being "hic et nunc" (here and now). Despite this fundamental meaning pointing toward "actual occurrence," many prominent thinkers deviate from this literal sense. For instance, while the Czech translation "pobyt" is established for Heidegger’s usage, Jaspers defines "Dasein" in opposition to "Existenz," viewing human life as mere "Dasein" that only transcends into "possible existence" during boundary situations. The article critically reflects on these conceptual shifts and explores whether it is feasible to employ the concept strictly in its original sense as "actuality" or "actual being-ness." By revisiting the etymological foundations of the word, the study questions how philosophical abstractions relate to the concrete presence and immediacy originally implied by the term.
