This document explores the theological and philosophical significance of the term "monogenés" (only-begotten or unique) within early Christian dogmatic debates concerning Jesus Christ. The author argues that defining Christ's uniqueness established a fundamental shift in how reality and human individuality are perceived. However, the text identifies two primary dangers: the neutralization of uniqueness through premature generalization and the potential undermining of the concept of incarnation when restricted solely to a single individual. Historically, the recognition of uniqueness has struggled to gain ground. During the Renaissance and the rise of modern science, the concept was increasingly marginalized. From a scientific perspective, the unique was often dismissed as peripheral or unknowable because it defies classification under general laws. Ultimately, the abstract reflects on the historical tension between specific religious dogmas and the broader ontological understanding of human existence in Western thought, highlighting the challenges of maintaining the value of the unique in a world focused on the universal.

Jedinečný – jednorozený (MONOGENÉS) / Jednorozený (MONOGENÉS) (a „jedinečný“)
