This text explores the Aristotelian relationship between unity and being, focusing on the distinction between an internally unified whole and a mere heap. It begins with Aristotle's assertion that being and unity are identical, yet points out the challenges this poses when considering random groupings, illustrated by the example of marbles. While marbles in a hole may appear as a group, their unification is often external and contingent upon the perceiving subject. The reflection argues that a heap does not constitute true being; instead, the transformation of a chaos of information into a meaningful whole is an act of perception. Drawing on Emanuel Radl's concept of carving out reality, the text emphasizes that the subject must actively decipher and read sense into sensory data. Ultimately, the abstract examines the tension between objective elements and the subjective constitution of a whole. The text further addresses the polemic against atomistic views of the world, emphasizing that what appears to us as a being must first be grasped by the perceiving consciousness, which brings order to the diversity of sensations.

Celek a hromada
