The author defines this world as the actual, true reality in which we exist as an integral part, regardless of our conscious awareness or subjective experience. It is presented neither as a world of mere thought and perception nor as a simple "environment" (Umwelt) or mode of human existence. Furthermore, the world is not viewed as a static collection of "things-in-themselves" or an abstract totality. Instead, the real world is understood as a dynamic interplay of individual realities and their continuous mutual reactions to one another and their surroundings. A central theme is the unique position of humans, who are capable of relating to the world as a whole, even though this totality remains beyond their full reach or disposal. Ultimately, the world is seen as the emergent result of constant interactions between its constituent parts.
