This text examines the semantic and philosophical distinction between the terms 'insight' (názor) and 'opinion' (mínění). Drawing on ancient Greek etymology, the author connects the Czech word for insight to theoria (meaning contemplation or vision), while opinion corresponds to the concept of doxa. The author criticizes the modern colloquial misuse of these terms, noting that people frequently claim to have 'different insights' when they actually possess differing opinions. According to the text, a true insight is singular and universal for everyone, as genuine contemplation excludes the possibility of error and subjective variation. A classic example is provided through geometric constructs, such as the right-angled triangle, which is perceived identically across centuries. The text concludes that true insight is only possible regarding mental models or constructs, rather than physical reality. While the material world must be understood through a gradual process of cognition, mental constructs can be isolated and apprehended through direct intellectual vision, forming the basis of what an insight truly represents.

Názor a mínění
