The text explores the ontological distinction between the concepts of being and essence in relation to specific entities. The author defines being as the holistic process of an entity's event-based life, or its dwelling in the world, viewed from the perspective of its mere existence. Being is strictly distinguished from 'entity-ness,' which is understood only as a momentary state of occurrence at a given point in time. A key characteristic of being is its individual nature and its spatiotemporal coextensiveness with the entity's presence within its environment. The text emphasizes that being is not uniform across all entities but occurs at various levels or stages that the entity has achieved. Although entities are not equal in terms of their specific being, they may exhibit mutual similarities in the aspect of their essence. This reflection provides philosophical insight into the characterization of existence and the dynamic relationship between an entity's individual dwelling and its more general essence within the world.
