This text explores the profound reflections of the German philosopher Georg Picht regarding the increasingly problematic relationship between contemporary philosophy and the sphere of international politics. Picht critically observes that philosophy has effectively emigrated from the political realm, leaving its traditional territory to be occupied and dominated by various ideologies. He attributes the primary cause of this intellectual decline to philosophy's abandonment of universal metaphysical inquiries, which led to a subsequent loss of the universal historical horizon. According to Picht’s thesis, the complex issues of international law and global politics can only be properly understood as philosophical challenges when the universality of metaphysical thought intersects with the universality of the historical perspective. The document highlights that Picht's vision is particularly relevant for the philosophical interpretation of human rights, which gained significant prominence during the final decades of the 20th century. It argues that human rights require a deeper intellectual foundation that transcends mere technical or legalistic frameworks, calling for a return to a broader philosophical understanding of human existence within history.

[Picht: filosofie a mezinárodní politika]
