This 1957 philosophical essay explores the nature of truth, characterizing the desire for it as an inherent longing for the whole. The author argues that truth is not found in immediate appearances but in revealing what remains hidden from a partial view. Since truth is synonymous with the whole, it must be singular, precluding the possibility of multiple or divided truths. A central theme is the fundamental tension between truth and facts. Facts are depicted as oriented toward the past, defined by their isolation and fragmentation from the totality of reality, which renders them inherently one-sided and untrue. In contrast, truth is forward-looking and precedes facts, serving as a perspective that defines the whole. The text posits that truth extends beyond empirical givenness into the future, acting as a dynamic force that transcends the limitations of definitive, cut-off facts. Ultimately, truth is presented as an essential pursuit of a unified reality that overcomes the inherent incompleteness of isolated historical events.

Pravda jde dál, do budoucnosti.
