This text explores the fundamental nature of myths and mythical narratives, which are traditionally passed down through generations without any significant inquiry into the narrator's source of knowledge. A defining characteristic of myth is the absence of questioning regarding the origin of the storyteller's information; even when such questions arise, answers typically defer to ancestral tradition, which fails to address the underlying epistemological problem. This is particularly evident in creation myths, where focus remains on the world itself, while the identity and authority of the witness are ignored. The author argues that criticality emerges only when a clear distinction is made between the subject matter of a narrative and the authority of the person delivering it. By separating what is being said from who is saying it and by what right, criticality challenges the unexamined acceptance of tradition. This shift from mythological immersion to analytical distance forms the basis of critical thought and the rational investigation of truth.

Mýty a kritičnost
