This text provides a profound analysis of the philosophical concept of totality, emphasizing its event-like nature and inherent connection to temporality. The author posits that an authentic whole cannot be understood as a static entity, but rather as a dynamic process necessitating a specific intentional model. Within this framework, every instantaneous existence embodies and makes present the entire temporal structure of the event. The author introduces the pivotal concepts of "past-ness" (bylost), denoting the part of the event already transpired, and "future-ness" (budost), representing what is yet to come. The central argument maintains that grasping a totality intellectually is impossible without effectively accounting for both these dimensions. A critical gap is identified in traditional philosophical discourse, which, while considering the past, has systematically neglected the problem of the future or misinterpreted it as a latent form of "being." The text seeks to rehabilitate the inquiry into what is "not yet," treating it as a constitutive element of event-based existence and being.

Nelze skutečně „myslit“, tj. myšlenkově uchopit „celek“, aniž bychom „reálně“ a „efektivně“ počítali s jeho bylostí a budostí (resp. správně: budostí a bylostí).
