This text examines the evolution of the concept of time in Western theology, focusing on the contrast between traditional static views and process theology. The traditional perspective, represented by Augustine and Thomas Aquinas, defines eternity as timelessness and God as an unmoved mover existing outside the temporal framework of the created world. Augustine posits that time began only with creation, while Aquinas adheres to the Aristotelian notion of immutable divinity. A significant shift occurs with American process theology, particularly through Alfred North Whitehead, who introduces the concept of a God in motion. Whitehead distinguishes between the primordial and consequent natures of God, suggesting that God becomes a creator through the act of creation and gains experience through the relationship with the created world. The author concludes that this dynamic conception, despite its philosophical complexity, shows a deeper alignment with the biblical understanding of God than the classical scholastic and Neoplatonic models that dominated Western thought for centuries.

Americká procesuální theologie, navazující na Whiteheada a Hartshorna, znamená v tomto ohledu závažný přelom, protože začala uvažovat o „bohu“ v pohybu. Whitehead v poslední, velmi krátké kapitole svého největšího díla, Process and Reality, rozlišuje dvojí povahu boží, totiž „primordiální“ a „konsekventní“.
