This reflection expands upon and modifies Karl Jaspers' concept of "the encompassing" (Das Umgreifende) by distinguishing between its external and internal dimensions. The author posits that we are not only surrounded from the outside by the world and objective reality but also, and more fundamentally, from within. The path inward does not terminate at the individual self; rather, it leads into an ever-deeper realm of pure interiority and non-objectivity that remains ultimately unreachable and ungraspable. This internal "embrace" is characterized as primary and direct, whereas the external encompassing mediated through the environment is seen as secondary and derivative. The subject is not conceptualized as a mere point or geometric abstraction, but as a being that belongs equally to the world of objects and the realm of the internal. The text thus highlights the ontological depth of interiority as a necessary counterpart to external reality.

„Objímající“, ale „zevnitř“
Novinka oproti Jaspersovi: jsme „obklopováni“ a „objímáni“ nejen zvenčí, tj. přes okolí, přes vnější svět a jeho prostřednictvím, nýbrž také – a dokonce zejména – zevnitř, neboť cesta „dovnitř“ nekončí u „já“, nýbrž jde dál, do stále větší hlubiny niternosti, tj. do „světa“ (či snad lépe „říše“) niternosti, směrem k ryzí niternosti, ryzí nepředmětnosti (k níž ovšem nelze proniknout, je „nedosažitelná“ a „neuchopitelná“).
